Diabetes is a growing public health concern as the number of adults with the disease is expected to increase by 28 percent by 2020. People with high blood sugars have a poor quality of life, and it’s difficult to manage their health without access to prescription drugs. However, there are many ways to manage diabetes without medication- some people do so through strict dieting. A healthy diet can help people with diabetes live a normal life.

What is Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition where the body has elevated blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels can cause many health problems, and preventing diabetes involves controlling the amount of sugar in the body. People with diabetesdiabetes can manage their health by monitoring their blood sugar levels and adjusting their diet. Many people with diabetes are overweight or obese, and changing their diet may help them lose weight and improve their health. Additionally, it’s important to have a plan in case you’re diagnosed with diabetes.

Foods to Take and Avoid when Having Diabetes

There are several healthy foods that can prevent or manage diabetes without medication. For example, you shouldn’t have sweets while managing your health. Additionally, you should eat healthy fats such as olive oil, avocados and fatty fish. These foods  regulate blood sugar levels by promoting the metabolism of your body’s fatty acids and protein. You should also limit excess calories by eating only the amount of food you need for your body. Reducing calories decreases the risk of excessive weight gain, which makes it hard to manage your health.

Meal Plan and Journal

It’s hard to manage someone’s health when they’re diabetic if they don’t know how to shop for food. People with diabetes should have a meal plan for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks every day. Meal plans include all the necessary ingredients so you don’t need to worry about missing portions. It’s also beneficial to keep a journal so you can track your food intake for 3 weeks for at least 4 hours each day. This helps you know what foods are triggering your symptoms and needs to be avoided. You should also call an ambulance if someone has a severe reaction to food; this is called anaphylaxis and requires immediate treatment at an emergency room.

Where to Find Diabetic Healthy Foods

There are few options for food free of the sugars, fats, and carbs that cause diabetes in many supermarket stores. However, grocery stores have healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, protein sources such as lean meats and fish, nuts and seeds, and beverages such as water and herbal tea. You can also find healthy foods at your local farmers’ market or online via farmer’s markets or online retailer. Food trucks are great places to find local health food. They provide inexpensive yet delicious meals that are free from common health issues like heartburn or diverticulitis (intestinal infections).

Diabetes is a serious condition that can be prevented through healthy eating habits. There are many ways to prevent or manage diabetes without medication- including strict dieting – through healthy eating habits and careful monitoring of blood sugar levels. People with diabetes should have a food plan so they know where to find healthy food every day. Furthermore, bystanders should know what to do if someone has an allergic reaction to food that affects their health.
