Food and Detox

It’s amazing how nature has provided a platform and a support mechanism for the body to detox itself. In addition, food is another component that can be cited as useful when considering a detox program. For instance, foods that contain a lot of sulfur and protein glutathione helps to sponge out toxins especially supporting the liver as an organ. Example of such foods includes:

Food and DetoxCruciferous vegetables: these include cabbage, broccoli, turnips, cucumber, eggplants, carrots, radish, asparagus, onion, cauliflower, garlic, spinach, lettuce, squash and Brussels sprouts among others. Apart from high amount of antioxidants and phyto- nutrients found in carrots, glutathione is also a major component. They also have high amount of vitamin A and K among other micro nutrients. Raw tomatoes on the other hand boast of having glutathione. Also it contains high amount of lycopene which is considered as an important antioxidants and has been used to manage different conditions like cancer. Avocado fruit contain monounsaturated fats which lowers cholesterol in the body. It also contains glutathione. 

Another category of food that helps in detox is diuretic food. These food increase urine production and help to push the toxins out through the urinary system. Basically water is a good diuretic and it is always reasonable to drink sufficient water to flush out excess fluids in the body. Apart from water, fruits like water melon, pineapples, and grapes are also good. In addition cabbage carrots and asparagus fall in this category. 

The last category is food that contains high amount of fiber which assists in the motility of the gastro intestinal tract. They also help to maintain a healthy micro flora in the intestinal thus aiding in proper digestion and faster excretion of harmful gases and waste. 

 In conclusion we find that inclusion of fruits and vegetables in our diets basically helps in detoxifying the body. They contain natural components that help in flushing out toxins in the body. It I also important to ensure one maintain a healthy diet, does regular exercises and drink sufficient amount of water.
